ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born on September 21, 1972 at Jessore district in Bangladesh. Sayeed Abubakar is the major poet of the nine decade of modern Bangla poetry.His first poetry-book Pronoyer Prothom Pap( The First Sin of Love) was published in 1996. This very book established him as a strong poet and made him popular to the Bangla poetry readers. For its unbelieveable popularity, the second edition of this book was published in 2008. His second book of poetry Julekhar Shes Jal ( The Last Trap of Julekha) came into light in 2004. His next four poetry-books namely Sada Andhokare Kalo Jyosnai ( Into White Darkness, Black Moonlight), Mesopatamiar Mme ( The Mme of Mesopotamia), Bongate Bosoti (Home in Bengal) and Ebar Ektiber Eksathe (Now we All Together) were published in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 respectively. Many critics have written important articles on his poetry. He has also invented a new style of criticism in Bangla language which is quite obvious in his two popular prose-books Kabita Kamol ( The Lily of Poetry) and Kabitar Adhunikata ( The Modernity of Poetry) published in 2006 and 2010 respectively. His edited book Adhunik Bangla Kabita (Modern Bengali Poetry) published in 2009 is the most popular anthology both in Bangladesh and West Bengal.He is also a famous translator. He writes for the children too. He was given `Shabdoshilon Award' in 2008, `Lalon Award' in 2009 and `Sahitya Sommelon Sommanona 2010' for his contribution to poetry and translation.
