Gimhani has also won the Shankars'International prize for creative writing in the year 2005.She has also translated a scientific novel into English, which was first written by her grandfather in her native language, Sinhalese at the age of eleven. Her ninth book was published by the National Science Foundation, Sri Lanka in 2006 under the Natural Disaster Programme as the second book which is also the first English book of the series. She is a regular contributer to four main leading weekend kids' journals and also a reputed Journal, The Sunday Observer. Her major interests are in books and nature.
