Academic success is not achieved by mere CHANCE OR LUCK but through HARD WORK and by doing certain specific things.
SKILLS are needed by students to help manage academic life more effectively in order to achieve academic excellence. Students need to learn techniques of personal planning, career choices that suit personality, memory improvement techniques, effective studying methods and also examination writing techniques.
The purpose of this book is to provide secondary level students with the tools of effective personal planning in school that will guide them achieve academic excellence. Students in commercial, vocational and technical schools will also find it useful in their secondary education.ABOUT THE AUTHORThe Author
Mr. Richard Samuel Addo was born in September 19, 1958. He studied Sociology at the University of Ghana, Legon, graduating with a Bachelors degree in 1984. During that time he developed a keen interest why some students do very well in school whilst others don't.
He has worked in various positions in different organizations including Human Resource Officer with Ghana Cocoa Board, Executive Secretary of Volta Forum Trust, and Deputy Executive Director (Operations) in SSARP, a training and capacity building organization.
Mr. Addo also worked with Network Herald, a private newspaper as Editor and subsequently as Managing Editor of Weekly Digest, a private weekly national newspaper.
He has also doubled as Executive Director of Cedar Foundation, a non-profit organization that undertakes youth development as well as preventive education programmes on drug abuse and HIV/AIDS in educational institutions.
Mr. Addo is author of another book, Guide to a Successful Marriages and Preventing Drug Abuse in Ghana which are yet to be published.(2011, paperback, 94 pages)
